I cannot believe it is Thursday night already. This week seems to have sped by. This year seems to be flashing by. We realized today that there are only three more weeks left of school. At first my son was yes, then he realized that he would be stuck with me everyday. (It’s probably a bad thing to taunt your child with the fact that they are stuck hanging out with you, but it’s fun.)
Back to it being Thursday… This week has been a great week really.
Lots of writing got done; I think I am in the middle of writing a short story. I am not 100% sure yet, but it has the feel of being a short story. Ha, like I would know what a short story would feel like, I have never written one of those either. My writing style leans more towards the book word count of 50k or more. So look at me go, trying my hand at a short story! As long as I finish writing it, then I really don’t care what it wants to be. Finishing. That was/is my New Year’s Resolution. Finish what I start. So far, I am struggling with that. But I have faith that I will conquer my goals.
My daughter and I spent lots of time in the garden. With the scorching 90 degrees this week, my little green sprouts tried to wilt up and die on us. We sprayed those suckers down like there was no tomorrow, several times a day. I am determined to have something grow to its full ripeness so that she can actually understand what it is she is doing out there. Now all I have to do is fight the scorching sun, hungry bugs and evil neighborhood cat (from rolling around in my garden bed) then maybe my little sprouts will have a chance. Right now the grape tomato plants is so full of baby green tomatoes that it can barely hold itself upright. My Bell peppers look like they have teeny tiny peppers coming in. And FINALLY one of my cucumber plants have flowered! (Just my luck, the one vegetable that I enjoy has only one flower. I am allergic to raw tomatoes and I am not a big fan of bell pepper.)
This week also included lots of cooking. Cooking, for me, is almost as important and scary as my writing is. I’ve never been very good at it. And since I became a full time stay at home mom last August, my daughter and I have been practicing our skills in the kitchen. We are getting there. Though, I am not sure I qualify as a good cook just yet either. My husband says I am awesome, but I am pretty sure that he has to say that. It’s like in the small fine print on the marriage license. He has never once said my cooking has been terrible, not even this one time when I made Philly cheese-steak eggrolls and he slipped his under the table and threw it out when I wasn’t looking. (What I made was baaaaaad so I can’t really blame him.) But that has been a while back now. Eventually I might get more comfortable with this cooking bit and post some pics and recipes for what all we make. One day.
Well I hope everyone had a great week too!
Till next time, AJP
