Have you ever wanted to be a bad ass? You know, like being total hard core and not caring what anyone thinks or says? Or when life gets you down, you don’t wallow in self pity followed by some self-satisfying/hating indulgence?
No, just me?
Liar.
We all have those moments, those days that just completely get us down. The inevitable events that make us hate the day and everything that comes with it.
My go-to on days like these is watching Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s/Sorcerer’s Stone movie… Do not judge me! 🙂
This week should have been one of those times for my youngest. Boy has she just had a completely crappy week, all starting on Tuesday morning on our walk to school. The poor thing inherited her mother’s clumsiness and while we were walking to school, little feet got tangled up on themselves causing her to come face to face with the concrete side walk – face first. I am not sure who cried more; my daughter, me or the other mother who rushed us inside her house to get my little one cleaned up.
After all of the tears, snot and grass were cleaned up, I offered to let her call it a day and skip school to spend the day gorging on movies and goodies in the comfort and safety of our home.
Do you know what she said?
No thank you mommy, and she proceeded walking in the direction of the school.
I will admit, I tried a few more times to convince her to stay home, you don’t understand… my baby girl has sidewalk rash on her face, from her forehead and down her nose – in two places! – and a busted lip. (And I hadn’t even had a chance to check under her jacket and pants at this point- both knees bloody and a gash in the hand for those of you who are wondering.)
However, my daughter is a total bad ass and walked into that school with her red rimmed eyes and took her tardy like a champ. She barely batted an eye at the “aww’s” and “poor baby’s” by the teachers as she passed them. She was on a mission… to have a good day. And buddy, she had a great day!
I am not like my daughter in this sense. I wish that I was. I can sit here and tell you that from now on, I will model myself after her cheerful manner, no care attitude, but it is not my way.
Instead, I will marvel in her awesomeness and be proud.
