Day one of NaNoWriMo has come and gone… Day two is well on its way out the door… and I am thinking about following them…
This weekend has been utter chaos, though. Yesterday consisted of a soccer game, which I started my NaNo project during the quarter breaks, followed up by a wedding that took up the greater part of my evening. Had I remembered that my Surface was in the truck, I might have feigned smoking breaks to get in a few more words written for the day. I managed a mere 167 words. Total. For the entire day.
I wish I could say that I kicked my butt into gear today and spit out a few thousand words to catch up. But I didn’t. After church I had a writer’s group meeting, which was much needed. And once I was home, I was dealt with the choices of writing or running to the grocery store so that my kids could eat lunch this week at school. Even though my daughter assured me that she had no problems taking some of her Halloween candy for lunch instead, I was a good mommy and went shopping. But now it is late and I have a word count of zero for the day. Given my nature to self criticize, I would normally be discouraged. Instead, I remembered that I do not normally write on the weekends.
Why oh why did November 1st have to fall on a Saturday?! Oh yeah, because it fell on a Friday last year.
Back to the grind!
