It has been almost two weeks since I planted my seeds and transplants into my little garden. And for almost two weeks, every evening -and mornings since my husbands as been on vacation this week – my family goes to the garden to see if anything has changed in the dirt. Of course we have been disappointed each time, which is expected seeing as how I JUST put everything into the dirt. (We might lack a bit of patience…)
So when on Wednesday morning we found bits of green popping up from the soil, we all danced and cheered and our neighbors now think we are crazy. (Ha, who am I kidding. They’ve known we are crazy for quite some time.) Well by the end of the day we realized our mistake. I had successfully grown several cute weeds, ugh.
Not wanting to be fooled again, we have spent the past few days with our faces within inches of the soil. Watching. Waiting. Cause darn it, if the evil weeds grew in a little over a week, then the actual intentional plants should be growing too!!
After all of the hard work of watching and waiting (hmm, maybe the neighbors might be onto something with this crazy notion), we finally had a sprout!
Then another. And another. Lots of another’s. Like all at once.
We’ve got cucumbers, green beans, carrots, green onions, even our grape tomato plant flowered finally! Take that black thumb.
I might need a bigger garden…
